The swimming team of the non-profit organization “ExcellenSeas”, Pastra Cretonaxiosa, as every year, successfully completed the annual swimming crossing, dedicated to the outstanding students and scholars from Greece’s remote island communities.

The event was held under the auspices of H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Constantine An. Tasoulas, and took place on Saturday, October 18, 2025, along the route from Kalamos to Lefkada, covering a distance of 23,430 meters.

The start was given by Mr. Antonios Karavias, a resident of Kalamos, while at one point during the crossing, the swimmers had the unique experience of being accompanied by dolphins, creating a moving moment that highlighted the magical connection between humans and the sea.

The purpose of this symbolic initiative is to raise public awareness and support the mission of “ExcellenSeas”, through the ExcellenSeas Scholarship Program, which provides assistance to university students from remote islands across Greece.

This year’s crossing included the following swimmers: Eugenia Tzannini, Apostolos Tsagkarakis, Vasileios Maroulis, Sofia Psilolignou, and Vasileios Sofikitis.

🙏 Special thanks

  • To ANT1, communication sponsor of the event, for their continuous support and promotion of our work.
  • To Captain Spyros Kaloudis, for the excellent escort of the team at sea.
  • To Mr. Grigorios Psofakis, for the generous sponsorship of the boat.
  • To Holmes Place, for contributing to the team’s training and preparation.
  • And finally, to Attica Group, for their ongoing and invaluable support.
