Mr. George Prokopakis was born in Rethymnon in 1955. He graduated as a Chemical Engineer from the National Technical University of Athens (1978) and he was a doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania (1982). In addition, he was a professor at SEAS Columbia University, NY (1982-88). Since 1990 he is a major shareholder and Technical Director of the consulting company SPEC A.E., while in recent years he has been dealing mainly with issues of business reorganization, information management and finance. At the same time he dealt with technology investments, intellectual property issues and business development. In addition, he was CEO of Theta Microelectronics (1994-2001) and Director of Theta Micro (2001-2008), Managing Director of the venture capital in SE. Europe DFJ-Faros (2004-2007), Member of the Investment Committee of AKES Climate Change Opportunities Greece, Management Advisor of the Athens Stock Exchange (2007-2010), as well as President and CEO of NERIT SA. (2013-2014). Finally, he has written extensively on the Greek debt / deficit crisis. He has been a swimming champion with the Olympic SFP and winner of Balkan swimming games (1973).
