2026 Excellenseas Event – Technopolis
The Annual ExcellenSeas Event Was Successfully Held
On Tuesday, 17 February 2026, the annual event of the “ExcellenSeas” Scholarship Programme took place at Technopolis City of Athens, in an evening dedicated to our scholars, alumni, and the remote island communities of Greece.
The event marked a meaningful moment of reflection and inspiration, during which the organisation’s work and growth were presented, alumni were honoured, and commemorative plaques were awarded to sponsors and supporters who consistently stand by our young people.
The event was honoured by the presence of former President of the Hellenic Republic and Honorary President of the organisation, mr Prokopios Pavlopoulos, Deputy Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Professor mr Nikolaos Papaioannou, former Rector of the National Technical University of Athens, Professor mr Andreas Boudouvis, President of the Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection (ASEP), mr Athanasios Papaioannou, Mayor of Naxos mr Dimitris Lianos, as well as representatives from local government, academia, and the business community.
During the evening, the ExcellenSeas annual impact report was presented, highlighting the importance of mentoring in fostering excellence.
A particularly meaningful moment of the event was the meeting between sponsors and scholars — a living testament that behind every scholarship lies a relationship built on trust, support, and a shared vision.
The ExcellenSeas Scholarship Programme, launched in 2018 at the initiative of the swimming team Pastra Cretonaxiosa, has awarded 60 scholarships to date to high-achieving students from Greece’s remote islands. Through targeted financial support, structured mentoring, and active connection with the labour market, the programme makes a tangible investment in the future of the next generation.
The evening concluded with a reception at Technopolis, in an atmosphere of emotion and optimism for the continuation of this mission.
Together, we continue to support the new generation of Greece’s remote islands.
Together, we continue to build the future. View below selected photographs and the event video.
