Ms. Antonia Koutsoukou was born in 1955 and graduated from the Medical School of the Aristotle’s University of Thessaloniki in 1982. Today she is a Professor at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Director of the 1st Pulmonary Clinic of Sotiria Hospital and Director of the Department of Pathology of the Medical School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She has also been an Assistant Professor of Intensive Care at the Medical School of EKPA (NKUA), head of Intensive and Increased Care Units at the 1st University Pulmonary Clinic of Sotiria Hospital, as well as Assistant Professor of Intensive Care at the Medical School of EKPA (NKUA) – 1st Clinic Annunciation of General Hospital “o Evangelismos”. In addition, she has served, among others, as Deputy Director and Curator at the Intensive Care Clinic of General Hospital “o Evangelismos”.

She has continuous clinical activity in Pulmonology-Intensive Care from 1987 until today, as well as educational activity with courses of Pulmonology and Intensive Care not only from amphitheater but also in practice with students near graduation of the Medical School of the University of Athens.

She is the Director of a 2-year Postgraduate Program entitled “Respiratory Insufficiency-Mechanical Ventilation” since 2018, as well as a guest speaker in 5 Postgraduate Programs, while she has supervised more than 22 Doctoral Theses and Postgraduate Theses.

At the same time, he has been distinguished with the titles of European Diploma in Intensive Care Medicine, Degree of specialization in Intensive Care, Doctor of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Excellent), as well as the title of specialty in Pulmonology-Tuberculosis. In addition, she is a member of the following scientific societies: the American Thoracic Society (ATS), the European Society of Intensive Care (ESICM), the European Respiratory Society (ERS), the Hellenic Society of Intensive Care, the Hellenic Pulmonary Society, but also the Greek Bronchological Society.

In addition to the above, she has been honored with important awards, while she has participated in more than 150 publications which include full publications in Greek and foreign magazines and chapters in Greek and foreign language books.

She is the Editor in: A. Koutsoukou Basic Principles of Intensive Care (e-Book), Kallippos Publications, Greek Academic Books and Aids, Athens 2016, (p. 400) and Editorial Board member or advisor of the Editorial Committee (Reviewer) of 30 scientific journals.

She has been a guest speaker or president in more than 120 scientific events of Pulmonology-Intensive Care in Greece and abroad. Finally, she has taken on important hospital and university positions as well as positions with which she has offered important organizational and administrative work.
