Naxos – Heraklia Cross Swim
We are glad to share with you that team of Pastra Cretonaxiosa, accompanied by the world champion Ioannis Xenakis and Vasilios Sofikitis, successfully completed the planned cross-swim between Naxos and Heraklia, swimming in the form of a relay for a 35 kilometers distance, from Naxos Town (from the Temple of Apollo) to Heraklia, on Sunday, October 23rd, 2022.
There, the team’s arrival and welcome in Heraklia, took place in a warm and festive atmosphere that filled all those involved with joy. In addition, after the completion of the cross-swim, a scholarship was awarded to the outstanding graduate of the Highschool of Donousa, Irene Prassinos, who has been selected among the new scholars of the ExcellenSeas scholarship program, for the academic year 2022-2023.
The above swimming activity took place under the auspices of HE the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mrs. Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
In addition, the team members had the pleasure of being hosted at the Naxian Collection/Tortuga hotel and we sincerely thank Mr. Ioannis Margaritis and Ms. Maria Polykreti for this. At the same time, we also express our warm gratitude to the ATTICA Group, which undertook the transport of the team’s members from Piraeus to Naxos and from Naxos to Piraeus, as well as to the captain, Mr. Ioannis Poulios, who accompanied the team along the way, with a boat of the company Naxos Yachting |Catamarans DANAE, RENA & ANASSA and contributed in helping us to complete this difficult task with due care and diligence. The swimmers participating in the cross swim were: Evgenia Giannini, Sotirios Pastras, Apostolos Tsagkarakis, Evaggelos Zourbakis, Konstantinos Michos, Vasilios Maroulis and Vasilios Sofikitis.
